Cheshire & Warrington Restructure Capital Grant

A new grant programme to help small businesses across Cheshire & Warrington get back to work

The project is funded by the Cheshire & Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership and managed by Blue Orchid Enterprise Solutions. Funding for the Recovery & Restructure Grant comes from the Growing Places Fund which the C&W LEP Board has approved the use of in the form of grants to small businesses to be invested in ways that will support businesses to re-open, operate and grow in a Covid-safe way. 

The grant can pay towards capital items business may need to recover or restructure their business to trade through the Covid-19 outbreak.
Examples of the support that can be provided includes:

  • IT equipment, e.g. Tablet & Contact payment systems, ICT equipment to support homeworking (Please see below for additional details) 
  • Fixed PPE equipment e.g. plastics screens & sanitiser dispensers
  • Building alterations e.g. creation of one-way systems, building of outdoor seating, serving hatches etc.
  • Web sites, Mobile Apps, etc.
Access a grant of up to 80% grant to pay for equipment, building alterations and technology to be Covid Secure
This fund is designed to support businesses which need adapt to significant changes in their business model, recover staff from furlough, reopen their business with PPE to protect staff/ customers. As such we have ring fenced funding in the following way;
  • Hospitality, Retail, Leisure & Tourism – £210,000
  • All other business sectors – £210,000

When allocations are committed we will no longer be able to accept applications and we anticipate a extremely high demand for the this service.

Once your application is approved you will need to purchase the equipment and goods your business requires and submit a claim for us to reimburse you the agreed value. The grant is only open to trading entities and grant payments can only be made into a business bank account. 

The grant cannot pay for day-to-day running costs, servicing debt or towards cash flow. Other Government programmes are available to help with these issues. Details of these programmes can be found here.

Please note that if you are requesting the IT equipment the following additional rules will apply;

  • Mobile Phones are not eligible
  • Tablets PCs such as Ipads are only eligible where they are being used to support social distancing, e.g. to facilitate customer check / track and trace
  • ICT equipment for homeworking will be assessed against business need and will be capped at 1 item of each type of ICT equipment (e.g. laptop, printer) per employee.
  • ^ICT equipment for sole traders will be capped at £1,000
  • Grants towards computing equipment for homeworking e.g. laptops, will be capped at £1,000
  • Additional post award checks may be carried out to ensure the equipment is being used for business purposes

*we anticipate the average grant award to be approx £2,000 with the maximum available grant of £5,000 only being awarded in cases where the application will make significant impact on a businesses ability to return to trading rapidly and support the retention of staff.
